How Sunshine Connections Works

Florida is committed to our common number one priority of Improving Student Achievement.  Without question it is you, the teachers in the classroom, that make the difference in student learning.

To assist the important task of student learning, the Florida Department of Education, in partnership with Microsoft, offers Florida teachers a new learning and teaching environment tool called "Sunshine Connections."

Your Sunshine Connections' site is intended to provide you with immediate and interactive access to classroom management tools, student performance data, instructional strategies, collaboration and communication abilities with other teachers, curricular materials, and even professional development opportunities unique to your needs.

The site is organized into two sections: (1) the “public” area organizes free tools for your use within key areas of interest; and (2) the “restricted” area provides you with confidential tools and information specific to your unique students.

The Sunshine Connections' partnership team will be working with school districts to link all Florida public school teachers to the restricted area (with a username and password). Meanwhile, we invite you to enjoy access to materials provided in the “public” area and practice with the “demonstration” data that shows anyone what teachers with restricted access can see with their individual students (under development).
